We have all found ourselves on the run from God for whatever reason, but David as well as Jonah reminds us that we can run, but we cannot hide from God or the calling or assignment on our life.  David records in Psalm 139 where can I go from your presence?  Even if I hide in darkness, the Lord is there.  Jonah thought if he went in the opposite direction, he could escape the assignment of God.  He thought if he went to the lowest part of the ship and ignore the storm, he could avoid God's assignment.  He thought that being thrown overboard would allow him to escape, however God prepared a place of meditation in the belly of the whale.  What Jonah like many of us came to understand is that the mercy of God is extended to all and the assignment of God will not leave us.
